| Tasting # 61: Mini Madness 9: 2007 starts with a Fiddik (01-JAN-2007) | |||||||||||||||||||||
| Notes | I'm not sure when Glenfiddich 12 SR replaced Glenfiddich NAS SR but it seems to have been a good thing. Also, having added liqueurs to my range I've started close to home with Baileys standard version. Yeah, its not a mini but I passed up the opportunity to buy a mini before adding them to the available whiskies. | ||||||||||||||||||||
| Smell | Bitter sharp and woody, lots of burn covering up whatever else is in there. Flat. | ||||||||||||||||||||
| Taste | Opens predictably, alcohol and malt and oak produce a prickly burn without much warmth. Dry white wine and a light sweet flavor, maybe raisins. Cooked raisins. The finish fades through a modest burn of smoke and ends with butterscotch or toffee and a lingering tingle. The taste is similar to the old SR, but the burn is a bit better so it'll earn a few points. It didn't impress me like the 15yo CS but it is somewhere in the recommendable range. Mid 60s. | ||||||||||||||||||||
