| Tasting # 412: Loves me some 'farclas (28-DEC-2009) | |||||||||||||||||||||
| Notes | Glenfarclas has been good to me over the reviews with the 10 year old being a bit of a let down. This is the newest version of that 10, a stout little bottle in their latest lineup. | ||||||||||||||||||||
| 1st Impression | I like the 'farclas setup generally but the 10 is a bit underwhelming. Fair looking but the flat red tin has no flair. | ||||||||||||||||||||
| Smell | Creamy butter and a bit of lemony citrus. There's a bit of barley here to carry the ball, but nothing extraordinary. | ||||||||||||||||||||
| Taste | The nose and general taste are slightly young and one-sided. There's still a touch of growl and bluster, but overall this is a better glass than I the last 10 I tried. More honey and meringue over barley this time, which makes for a nice front, but the top is a tad harsh. Good flavors in the fade and finish as a tiny bit of oak appears but it's all a bit short. Still, for the price I'm enjoying the glass and can recommend it without too many caveats. Borderline 60s. | ||||||||||||||||||||
