Tasting # 397: How about a bourbon to break up the Macallans  (07-OCT-2009)
NotesSeeing as how we've been all over the high dollar Scotch and are a bit Macallan-ed out, let's try some more bourbon! Well, wait.. you might want to skip this one.

Impression
Um, it's a fair bottle I suppose.
SmellMeh and meh and burning in the sinuses. Lots of caramel color and caramel scent, not much of those great BBQ flavors I hope for.
TasteTastes like it smells: cheap bourbon in a nice bottle. Really harsh in the front, lots of alcohol and sharp charcoal that leads to a syrupy, caramel infused top. Tiny bit of redemption late, but it all gets washed out by the finish and really you don't want to bother. I'm not happy with this. Understand that I'm on a limited plan as I raid this guy's fantastic liquor cabinet. I'm anticipating a long afternoon of water before a drive home. So every sip I take of crap like this is a sip of some wonderful Scotch or great bourbon that I've missed out on. Plus I've now had two tastings of this drek so as to give it a chance. Unpleasant and harsh. Below 50.
