| Tasting # 363: CT7: Oh, Bruichladdich. You won't let me down like Balvenie did, will you? (15-JUN-2009) | |||||||||||||||||||||
| Notes | it's Bruichladdich with peat. You might read that in a deadpan tone, so let me try and type it like I'm thinking it: Its BRUICHLADDICH... WITH PEAT!!! That comes close, I suppose. I just love Bruichladdich. | ||||||||||||||||||||
| 1st Impression | That's a dark bottle. Dark and stately, like a limousine on a rainy night. | ||||||||||||||||||||
| Smell | Oh my. That's the sweetest, silkiest peat I've ever inhaled with a sherry fog blanketing it. I have the chills. It's a monster growling from the shadows across a moonlit moor, warning you not to tread lightly. | ||||||||||||||||||||
| Taste | Dear.... by the gods of whisky, that's the stuff right there. Fantastic. The peat is the big, central player and having mentioned it (mmmmmm) I can move on to the bit cast: Oak, marshmallows, toasted vanilla, nutmeg and a slight metallic ending. There's just so much peat, and it's just so good. I might complain a touch about the one-sided nature of it all, but there really is a lot here to love and it just makes me so very happy. 91. | ||||||||||||||||||||
