| Tasting # 165: Wild Turkey Kentucky Spirit (13-AUG-2007) | |||||||||||||||||||||
| Notes | Aside from one slip up I've enjoyed every Wild Turkey product that I've tried, and the Kentucky Spirit keeps that tradition alive. If I understand the lineup correctly, KY Spirit represents the top of the Turkey line and its score reflects that. I need to track down some Russel's Reserve and their other liqueur to finish the main line of Austin Nichol's lineup. | ||||||||||||||||||||
| Smell | Oranges, raisins, vanilla, honey and wood. | ||||||||||||||||||||
| Taste | Whatever was there prior to water is pretty much covered by the numbing effect of 50% alcohol, so we'll just move past that. WT=>KSSB starts wood and raisins and inches toward a top end of rye and oak smoke and toffee. Very solid peak and a woody fade that unfortunately lets some corn syrup and sour apples sneak in, along with toffee and more smoke. It manages to even out at the finish=> sharp oak, vanilla and molasses. Great length and tastes in the finish pull this up to a near 80 score. | ||||||||||||||||||||
